CNA Role Details
Duties
- Provide direct patient care in accordance with state, federal, and facility guidelines
- Deliver general nursing care per facility policies
- Address patient care plan needs
Definition
A CNA is a trained and certified healthcare professional who assists nurses and medical staff in providing basic patient care.
Training & Certification
- Completion of a state-approved education program
- Passing a certification exam
- Registration with the state’s nursing board

Typical Duties
- Assist patients with daily activities (bathing, dressing, eating, toileting)
- Measure vital signs (blood pressure, temperature, pulse)
- Help with mobility and transfers
- Provide basic medical tasks under nurse supervision
- Maintain patient records and report changes
Home Caregiver Role Details
Definition
Home care refers to assistance provided in private homes, which may be non-medical support or skilled medical care depending on training.
Training & Certification
Non-medical caregivers typically do not require formal certification, though training is common.
